Venice to Cortina d'Ampezzo
The group will meet at the Venice Marco Polo airport at 2:00 pm, a private shuttle then takes the group to our hotel in the heart of the Alpine resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo. Cortina hosted the 1956 Winter Olympics, and has been selected to host the games again in 2026. Evening and dinner in Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Tre Cime di Lavaredo
Today's excursion will take you into one of the area's national parks on a circuit hike taking in the world famous, iconic Tre Cime di Lavaredo, one of the most stunningly beautiful and best-known groups of peaks in the Alps with ultra-panoramic, ever-changing views throughout. The evening will be spent in Cortina.
Ascent: 1400-1600 feet | Descent: 1400-1600 feet | Distance: 5-7 miles (may vary)

Cortina to Passo di Giau, Return to Cortina
We begin in the open meadows of Passo Giau, offering commanding views in all directions. Passo Giau once marked the boundary between the Republic of Venice and the Austrian empire. We will climb two passes before arriving at the Rifugio da Lago Croda where we will have lunch next to emerald Alpine lake Croda da Lago before returning to Cortina.

Cinque Torri, Val Badia
Walking in the direction of the Cinque Torri, another icon of the Dolomites, we stay high and head toward the Passo Falzarego where we continue by road, dropping into the scenic Val Badia and our 4-star hotel in Colfosco.
Ascent: 1200-1400 feet | Descent: 1800-2000 feet (or optional lift down)| Distance: 6.5

Passo Falzarego to Val Badia
We return to Passo Falzarego to capture the mountaintop views and explore its network of tunnels and trenches built over one hundred years ago during World War I. We delve into the tunnel fortress around Fort Tre Sassi built by the Austro-Hungarian forces in 1898 to protect the pass against invasion. We'll take the Lagazuoi lift up to the highest point on our trip at over 9000 feet for unrivaled panoramic views of the Dolomites. Dinner and evening in Colfosco.

Monte Seceda via Col Raiser - Monte Seceda has one of the most iconic ridgelines in the Dolomites. Huge drop-offs and jagged peaks are the signature of the Dolomites, and Seceda has the most dramatic ridgeline in the region.
Ascent: 1650 feet | Descent: 1650 feet | Distance: 6.5 miles (may vary - lift available for part of ascent if needed)

Colfosco, return to Venice
From Colfosco we drive through impressive mountain scenery, past pretty villages on our way to Venice. Arrival in Venice is typically around 1:00pm.

A $500 per person deposit and completion of the Tour Registration form is due at the time of registration to guarantee your space and the price quoted above. Final payment is due 60 days prior to departure. You will be sent an invoice and can pay via ACH payment on the Mountain Connections website.

The activity level of this trip is moderate. Guests should be able to hike up to 7 miles at a time with an elevation gain and/or loss of 2000 vertical feet.

Cancellations made more than 60 days prior to departure are fully refundable. Refunds for cancellations between 30 and 60 days of departure are subject to what I can recover from in-country vendors. Cancellations made less than 30 days before departure are non-refundable (I highly suggest insuring your trip and suggest www.insuremytrip.com or https://www.chubb.com/us-en/individuals-families/products/travel.html).
Cancellations of individual room nights or non-use of prepaid meals during the trip are not refundable. Transportation vouchers and railpasses are bearer documents and cannot be refunded if lost or stolen.

All trips require a minimum of 6 participants. I would suggest not buying any non-refundable airfare until we have met that minimum. If there are not 6 registered guests by January 31st, I'll cancel the trip and give full refunds to all guests.

Sometimes it rains, or even snows. Sometimes trains are late. Sometimes pandemics break out. I will do my best to manage any such potential situations and provide alternate activities when possible, but I can only do my best. Adapting to the unexpected is what adventure is all about. :)
